The Civil Rights Committee of Local 892 would like to encourage all members of Local 892 to write an endorsement letter supporting Norman "Turkey" Stearnes for induction into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame. Having been recognized in Cooperstown, New York, we feel he should also be recognized in the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.

Below is a sample letter that may be sent to the president of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame informing him you feel Norman "Turkey" Stearnes should
Turkey Stearnes be recognized and inducted. With everyone's support, we feel we can complete our goal of honoring such a great person for his accomplishments as a baseball player in the Negro Professional Leagues.

Raul Arriaga has been selected as January 2001 Union Member of the Month.

Raul Arriaga has been employed at Saline Plant since 1998. Raul is the Chairperson for the Veterans Committee. The Local 892 Publicity Committee nominated Raul Arriaga because he is hard working and goes above and beyond the Veterans Committee and co-workers. He communicates well at union meetings and always gives informative reports in regards to concerns of the veterans.

As Union Member of the Month, Raul Arriaga will receive a twenty five-dollar gift, He will also receive special recognition at the General Membership Meeting. Raul Arriaga 's name and photograph will be displayed on the Member of the Month Master Plaque at the Local 892 Union hall.

Raul Arriaga has served with the United States Marine Corps for ten years and is also a member of the American Legion Post 275 from Adrian, MI.

LIZ TINDALL HIRED AT SALINE ON JUNE 20, 1973
RETIRED ON JANUARY 1, 2000

Liz Tindall, the mother of Trustee Kim Tindall, passed away on December 30, 2000. Liz was a very honest and loving person who will be missed by many. Condolences go out to her family.
