Learning Center News

Spring is upon us and we have some interesting classes and workshops coming up in April, May, and early June.

In April, we're going to start Introduction to Computers and Windows 2000 over again. There will be six two-hour sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on April 9th. Intermediate Computers and Windows 2000 will follow the introductory class on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning May 7th. We generally wait until Fall to offer these two courses again after the winter session, but we are responding this year to requests to offer them in the spring. Come join us. We're also going to offer the Digital Camera Workshop again on Wednesdays (April 17th & 24th). This workshop was very successful the first time we presented it in January.
On Wednesday, May 8th, and Wednesday, May 15th, we're offering another French language workshop, called The French Connection. This time the workshop will be two sessions instead of one.

On May 22nd and June 5th, we're offering a Create Your Own T-shirt Transfer workshop. We'll learn how to transfer a graphic or photo onto transfer paper and then onto a T-shirt.
We would also like to invite you to come into the Learning Center and use our computers for your Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher or Microsoft Picture It! projects. We also have Print Artist available on the computers in the Learning Center. We have eight computers available for individuals to work on and a color inkjet printer that produces excellent output. We're open from 6am - 10:00am and again from 1:00pm to 6:00pm Monday - Thursday and 9:00am - 3pm on Fridays.

March Student of the Month

Congratulations to Dean Anderson, our March Student of the Month. Dean is presently taking classes in the Learning Center to complete his high school diploma. "I've always regretted not having a diploma, but I never felt I had the time to go back to school. Now I have the time. It's something I've always wanted to do," he relates.
Dean retired last year as a Receiving Inspector after 33 years. He and his wife, Theresa, are celebrating their 36th wedding anniversary. They have a son and a daughter and two grandchildren, ages seven and five.
Dean's hobbies include repairing engines and welding. He hopes to continue his education by taking classes in these areas of study. We salute Dean, and wish him well in his educational endeavors.
