Another
Black History celebration has come and gone. The Black Expo here at Local
892 has been celebrated for the past 10 years.
Detroit
300 Tri-centennial Celebration
On
January 31, 2001 nearly 5,000 participants were honored with a Heritage
Recognition Breakfast at Cobo Hall. All of those in attendance had been in
business for more than 50 years and could show a connection with the City of
Detroit. Local 892 was chartered on July 23, 1941 in Brooklyn, Michigan and
was tied to Detroit through the International Union.

UAW Community Action Program, known as CAP, was held in Washington D.C.
from February 4-7, 2001. Vice-President Mark Caruso and Dan Shepherd were
your Delegates from Local 892. It was a busy four-day conference that was
basically divided into two separate sections.

Chrysler white-collar staff votes to join UAW
SOUTHFIELD,
Mich. -- UAW Local 889 is about to have 360 new members.
About
360 customer service representatives at Chrysler Financial voted
overwhelmingly to join the UAW on Jan. 23.
